In an email exchange posted on amiga.org, Dave Haynie speaks out on Amiga's Virtual Processor (VP) coding system. So, basically, I see a ton of potential here. [..] Whether they'll even get close to delivering on it remains to be seen. Though this is the way things will go in the future.

Oliver Wagner writes in his .plan: Yes, there eventually will be a MorphOS native version of V. We've been following MorphOS development closely, and both me and Zapek were MorphOS alpha testers. No time frames for this right now, as the top priority is still to get all browsing functionality back in the AmigaOS version with the new layout engine. However, provisions for a MorphOS-native version are already in the new source tree. I think it's now obvious why we always considered "OS 3.5" and related stuff a dead end ;)

[News] Amiga Executive UpdateANN.lu
Posted on 09-Aug-2000 06:42 GMT by Christian Kemp0 comments
In the latest Executive update at Amiga, Bill McEwen announces some forthcoming announcements and answers two rumours (that I never heard). First of all, Amiga have no plans of pulling out of Germany once all A1200's are sold, in fact they are trying to increase their presence in all of Europe, Asia, South America, and even here in North America. Secondly, no new A4000's are being built. There is no manufacturing of any Amiga except the new desktop, notebook, and handheld in the works.

IBM are making Dick Tracy's watch reality. According to a story on CNET, IBM have created a prototype watch that is built around an ARM-based processor and has 8Mb of memory. It's running the Linux operating system. Maybe something like this could even be practical with Tao's technology (or QNX's, as the article suggests)?

New York Press has a long feature on one Giorgio Gomelsky. Who's he, you may ask. Well, he was the man behind such bands as the Rolling Stones and the Yardbirds in the 60s, and he's become something of a legend in rock circles. Lately, though, he's been involved in - you guessed it - the Amiga community.

I just wanted to point out that the ratings should be used to rate the overall quality of an article (writing style, grammatical correctness, language, whether it is on topic and relevant, etc.), and not whether it is good news or bad news (ie. whether you like the overall idea of the news item).

You all know who Giorgio Gomelsky is, right? Long-time Amigan and something of a visionary, although a lot of people have trouble getting his drift. Well, maybe you don't. Now, maybe you can.
