recent thread on amigaworld.net about aos4 before christmas, indicate ide dma driver still not yet ready, is it true ?
from amigaworld.net recent amigaos before christmas thread
"
I don't know if the UDMA IDE driver is finished but if I remember correctly PIO-3 works, a non-image booting version already works, and the easy install probably won't take them too much time.
I agree that PIO-0 is slow but PIO-3 would be quite useable. Even if it requires a little cpu time, 11MB/s is enough for most of users.
A native graphics.library is more urgent IMHO, changing the size of a window is actually a little slow. I would say that most of people find it slow. It's useable but it doesn't feel faster than a 68k Amiga. I'm not sure, but I think that it may even be slightly slower than a 680x0 Amiga. On the other hand PIO-3 is quite fast.
I'm sure that all this things will be completed soon, some of these already work... "
is it that hard, to make an ide driver with dma capability, after more than 2 years in development ?, what is the bottleneck ?
i think pio-3 is not that good. also fastide is not dma ready i think.

aos4 ide dma/udma driver status ? : Comment 46 of 117 | ANN.lu |

At best my knowledge (and I am one of the OS 4 Developers, so I should know better than you, but feel free to correct me if you think I am wrong) there was no OS 4 IDE DMA Driver available for testing at November 2003 (testing it under Linux is quite pointless, as the Linux Driver does things wrong... and we won't waste our time fixing the Linux Driver...).
