GLQuake Warp3D v1.0 available : Comment 16 of 17 | ANN.lu |
Posted by Remco Komduur on 23-Feb-2000 23:00 GMT | Remember me, from comment 11.
Well, I have played it and I can't complain. For a beta version it runs great. I am now able to play Quake in 640 X 480 pretty smooth. There are parts in the game where Quake runs fast. Some parts where the CPU has more to do run slower. It has probably something to do with the fact that it's beta and not fully Amiga specific yet. But hey, a working GLQuake after only 2 months is great. These people really know what they are doing. And it will only get better!!!!
Look at Descent for Warp3D. That game runs fast and smooth even in 800 X 600 and I only have 175 MHz PPC with BVision.
I realy do believe that if the kernel of the PPC cards would be changed for WarpOS, speeds would be higher. Maybe know that DCE are the new owners, Ralph Schmidt and Haage & Partner can go sit around a table and create the best of both worlds.
And remember. The creators together with Hyperion are breaking new grounds here for the Amiga. It may take a little while before top speeds are reached. |
