Amiga lowering A1200 prices : Comment 12 of 21 | ANN.lu |
Posted by redrumloa on 23-Mar-2000 23:00 GMT | In reply to Comment 10 (Anonymous): And the AmiJOE cards.. those are priced at 599EUR and up. If I have done my conversions right, you can buy a whole PC with a monitor and such for at least that amount or less.

Yup you can get an eMachine with a 433mhz Cyrix(or a Celron if your REAL lucky), an all in one sub-generic motherboard and 14inch monitor for your ~$600 range..Real quality there! BTW - Did you know eMachines and similar companies usually incluse USED components in their machines... Another sign of quality.
Ever tried pricing an ACCELERATOR card for a Mac? Yes there is such a thing..and guess what? They are in line with Amiga accelerators for price. Ever tried pricing a PC accelerator? Yes they exist too in many forms(like on a PCI card), and they run pretty expensive too.
Lastly some of us actually like AmigaOS better than Wintendo 98. AmigaOS on an a high end present day Amiga makes the price tag that comes with it palatable. I anxiously await the day I can plunk down ~$800USD for my AmiJoeA3k 466mhz accelrator.
Hmmm.. I'm thinking watercooled overclocking....yummy.. can you say 600mhz+ ?:-)
