In reply to Comment 6 (John B):
Not a very good press release. It leaves many issues open. Well, perhaps they are.
- Corel Linux will be used on some hosted AmigaOE/AmigaOS/Amie versions (but not in DEV box)
- AmigaOE/OS... can be used as a kind of X-windows replacement in Linux machines
(AmigaOE provides less overhead, better HW abstraction, better support to HW libraries: 2D,3D,sound,multiprocessing etc...)
- Amiga... makes it possible that the same apps/games can be used also in Windows Boxes, PSX2/Nintendo128/whatever, without recompilation.
(And it works also in the other directions: apps from windows to linux, to cell phones, to palm tops, ...)
"...we are thrilled to provide our Corel LINUX OS to Amiga's world-class systems."
This is not about developer system, so, Gary/Fleecy/Bill PLEASE, make it very (/more) clear that there WILL BE also non-hosted, NATIVE Amie/AmigaOS systems ((elate RTOS as 'host'?)).
Perhaps it could be like this:
- Amiga OS is the native OS for the 'Amie' HW.
- Amiga OE is the name for the hosted OS on any HW/OS.
Jump...
