In a posting on the German Amiga-Club forum, G'o'tz Ohnesorge asked whether he should translate occurences of the word "you" on Amiga's web pages and the developer documents into the informal German "Du", or the more formal "Sie". Here's what G'o'tz originally wrote (in German, of course).

You - Du oder Sie?
;) Danke.

I think "Sie" would be more appropriate, as it is used when you don`t know the person you are talking to personally. "Du" is used when you are communicating with relatives, friends, acquaintances or children. But because the web pages and documents is read by anyone "Sie" would be best.
It`s great that you don`t have to worry about that in the English language. :) In the Dutch language you also got "Jij" and "U" just like in the German language.
Sincerely, Mike Bouma.
