Here's the official word from Amiga's Gary Peake on why their server was down over the weekend: The system needed rebooting, the server alarm failed to go off, I had been in an accident and was offline and no phone for about three days and I am who they would have called. This was posted in comp.sys.amiga.misc.

In reply to Comment 5 (Mark Olsen):
Well, in fact the machine was up and responding that the site was hosted on, a rather large ISP called communitech (one that doesn't have failure's). The amiga.com web server DNS was resolving correctly, there in fact was a webserver running on port 80, just amiga.com did not work on this shared hosting server. It appeared to me identical to what happens when I shut my webhosting customers off for non-payment. Someone screwed up that's fine and dandy, you don't have to use the old Blame it on the ISP routine.
Regards
MIKE
