VHDL IP Module specifically targeting Tao’s graphical libraries.

Reading, UK, May 10th 2000 -- Tao Group and Tokyo based Weblogic Corporation, a leading Mobile Group Messaging Service Developer for Internet enabled cellular phones and LSI design specialist, today announced an alliance to develop a custom VHDL module providing hardware 2D acceleration for the intent(TM) Media System.

Today’s announcement highlights Tao’s ability to provide the next generation of mobile network-enabled devices with true multi-media capability.

The partnership will be licensing this technology and LSI IP to manufacturers incorporating Tao’s advanced graphics technologies in the new generation of consumer network appliances.

Y. Kawashima, President of WebLogic Corporation stated: "Even in software alone, WebLogic recognizes that Tao’s leading edge graphics solution is acknowledged as the performance leader worldwide. This technology is clearly vital for next generation, mobile network-enabled emerging applications. WebLogic’s goal to work with Tao on hardware acceleration is to provide the best cost effective and power saving turnkey solutions in the network appliance market which will enable this remarkable technology to reach an even higher performance."

Francis Charig, Chairman of Tao Group said: "By working with WebLogic, we can offer a more powerful multimedia solution, while allowing the manufacturers to use an even cheaper, less power hungry CPU by off-loading graphics functions to WebLogic’s accelerator. Weblogic has great expertise in hardware design, mobile products and some world-class alliances in China and the US upon which Tao can heavily leverage. The fact that silicon providers want to embed hardware support for our libraries in their silicon is evidence that our software has emerged as a de facto standard to be reckoned with."

In reply to Comment 5 (Michael Jantzen):
Isn't the "blitter" what made the Amiga even more special?
So that we could move all kinds of data around the screen
without redrawing the screen...If we could have an advanced
2d blitter that would be cool,,,how about an advanced 3D blitter?
even cooler..... that could work with video too, no?
Jump...
