Hyperion software will port Soldier of Fortune to Amiga and Mac : Comment 12 of 66ANN.lu

In reply to Comment 7 (Ben Hermans/Hyperion):
| I find it amusing that people on the other side of the planet are
| ranting about why we are porting Soldier of Fortune. Mister Rocati,
| give us some credit here.
It's not a problem with hyperion software or whatever, the problem is
with the requirement of the software compared with the current amiga
hardware...
| Do you really think we would want to
| announce this license which we have had since DECEMBER 1999 if we
| didn't think there would be hardware capable of running it?
It sound like it is, because the only argument against that is "we
WILL have a PCI board that WILL eventually have decent 3d drivers"...
| The transfer speeds on the Elbox PCI slots will be around 22MB/S on
| 1200 systems and more on the A4000 system.
22 MB/S is around twice the 10 MB/s i quoted as speed for the ZIII, so
my estimation was right INDEED; whereas someone liked to point me
wrong... Still it's pitifully slow. How do I am supposed to add the
PCI system on an A4000? The only expansion ports available are the CPU
slot and the ZIII bus; the former is unlikely (on the A4000 the cpu
slot is always occupied by a CPU card), the latter would be
pointless...
| This will be more than sufficient for use with modern graphics
| cards such as the Voodoo 3/4/5, Riva TNT2 etc. The Permedia 2 was the
| problem. The problem has been removed.
The problem is STILL here, until someone provides the drivers, and
with that bus speed there may still be problems; besides I have seen
atleast 3 other "announcements" of PCI slot upgrades for the Amigas
and still I have to see one reach the market stage.
