Hyperion software will port Soldier of Fortune to Amiga and Mac : Comment 16 of 66 | ANN.lu |
Posted by Ben Hermans/Hyperion on 11-Jun-2000 22:00 GMT | In reply to Comment 15 (Remco Komduur): Soldier of Fortune will NOT be pathetic on the current hardware provided it comes with a decent PCI graphics-card.
Elbox already have 2D drivers for Voodoo 3.
And guess who'll be doing the Warp3D drivers for it? We estimate this will take around two months to do because the API needs to be rewritten. Elbox promised us a prototype within 10 days.
How do you plug in the PCI slots in a A4000? Simple, you remove the Zorro 3 daughtherboard and replace it with a new daugtherboard that has Z3 and PCI slots.
At this point this can only be done for Micronik and Elbox/Powertowers because these are the most common towers. Nothing prevents a similar procedure on different towers.
Again, the transfer rate of 22MB might be "pathetic" but it 1) beats the proprietary slot of the Cyberstorm/BlizzardPPC which only can do around 18MB/S and in any case is more than sufficient.
On A4000 it will be more BTW.
Best regards,
Ben Hermans
