In reply to Comment 40 (Chris Roccati):
: I'm glad you understand. There's no such amiga...
So why not work to overcome this delima? You still have yet to even step up to the plate of reality. If you wine and complain enough do you honestly think that some developer of PPC boards (the current number is three after Phase5 went out, but none are available at this time due to an industry wide shortage of a specific chip for the bridge as well as a finished non-beta 68K emulator) is going to feel sorry for you and give you a PPC board just to shut you up, more than likely not.
: The Q2 engine is more COMPLEX. This means it will be slower. You get it?
You don't read the facts obviously. If you remember when the Quake2 engine was in final beta, there was a review done on GameSpy.com (probably still there) where they say that the Quake2 engine is much more complex however it offers greater speed improvements. Using a system running Quake and Quake2 there will not be any frame loss from the extra improvements since the code has been cleaned up and refined. Yeah, more complex, like you said, but you should be asking "This means it will be slower?" rather than making a statement.
I'm going to seriously beg of you, read the facts before you go off spouting nonsense into umpteen different directions like a kansas city fountain. If you have something that you think might be a great rebutle, research it before you post it. If you don't research, you might end up debating with people like me who know a bit about it. Class dismissed.
: Yeah, but how much I do need to spend? I have an A4000 with a with 40MHz
: 68040 (warpengine). I never got a PPC card because there was no software
: worth spending 500+ euro on the PPC upgrade.
BEHOLD, the truth is spoken!!! You are affraid that if you spend all this money on your Amiga system that it will not be what you expected right? Well then, now I know your motive. Let's look at it this way. If you spend about $2000 on an average computer system with a Pentium III 750MHz, you're going to get some really cool system... for the next year or so at least. After about two years, that system will be worth squat, maybe $50 (according to the Orion BlueBook http://www.orionbluebook.com). On the other hand, I've got my Amiga Tower system with a PIV, CSPPC (had it for over three years now) and so on that I can still sell for well over $2000 on ebay or any of the other auctions out there. The point being is that the computer system that you purchase is an investment rather than a toy so it's best to get the most out of it.
: Tell me, are WipeOut and Heretic worth the cost?
[shaking head in disgust] you have a lot to learn...
