Gaming on the Amiga, an Interview with Bill McEwen : Comment 5 of 23 | ANN.lu |
Posted by XDelusion on 29-Jun-2000 22:00 GMT | In reply to Comment 2 (Bill McEwen): Thankx Bill, I understand that Amiga itself will not be using X, I was just curious
about why X was so special, and what you guys had up your sleeves, that would lure big
time game developers away from the direction they are going,(being the development of
Winblows/Direct X dependant games).
My main concern is this:
When Amiga comes out, I am not so much concerned about the server side of the software, yes it would
be great if there was server software that would totally make Linux useless to me, but on the other hand
if I end up sticking with Linux as well, then I don't have much gribe, if the new OS runs pretty fast ontop
of Linux, then kool, I can live, on the other hand, if the New Amiga OS does not make an impact on the game
field, then I am going to have to be running Windows still for that matter, cause I got to admit, I love
my Unreal, Quake, NeoGeo emulation and the like, also another thing that is going to tie me to Winblows is
the fact that they have the Media Codec things in there hands and no one else seems to have them, by this I am
refering to: VCD, DVD, ASF, ect. ect. You do not have support for these things on BeOS, Linux, AtheOS, or anything
else, and that in itself really blows, ecspecially since Amiga was once the King of Kings when it came to
multimedia.
On that note, would it not be nice if ATI developed support for there All in Wonder cards for the new Amiga OS!?!?
Thankx for the personal reply Bill, I have to say, you definaty make me take Amiga serious again, granted I have not
seen much product really, but there is something about your manner and the whole bit, I can tell you are serous, and
unlike Gateway, are not here just for a nice little Tax write off. :O)
Thankx a million! |
