Bolton Peck writes: Long time Amigan and friend to Jay Miner, Bob Cosby passed away thursday night apparently of natural causes. I will miss him deeply as a friend, and we will all miss him here at Amiga. Bob Cosby, Amigan since September 1985 when he bought his first Amiga 1000, has passed away apparently of natural causes while at his home in Kent, Wa. last thursday night September 19, 2000. The exact cause of death is not known yet, but I tend to think he had a heart attack and died very quickly. He is survived by his wife, Marsha. I will miss him deeply as a friend, and we at Amiga Inc. will all miss his cheerful nature and quality work. He was a real nice guy and a good friend.

Yesterday, when I learned from Bolton, that Bob had passed away last Thursday night, was one of the saddest days of my life. In fact, I haven't been as fundamentally sad, I think, since my own Dad passed away in 1985. Bob was an old old friend of mine.. we knew each other close to 20 years. We both got our 1000s in October of 1985. He used to live locally to me (So. Calif.) and we saw each other a lot, went many places together, and I always enjoyed his company, even though we argued about a lot of things (especially politics)..
I still have trouble believing I'll never see his face or hear his big booming voice again. The last time I saw him was at AmiWest in late July. He was so excited to be working at Amiga he could barely contain himself.
The last time we spoke was probably a week or two ago. The last time I saw him type was in AmigaZone chat just last Thursday, in fact, if I remember correctly, it could've been the very evening just before he passed away. He'd always log out of chat around 9pm to call his lovely wife Marsha, who was still packing up their apartment and shipping it bit by bit up to Washington, where he had rented a place and was waiting for her to join him.
I was literally walking around in a haze yesterday, in shock. There was no preparation for this. There was no warning. He was there one day and gone the next.
The older you get, the more relatives and friends you start to lose.. and often, they are gone way before their time. Bob was only 52. I am proud to have been able to call him my good friend and I will miss him deeply and forever. I grieve for his wife Marsha because I know they loved each other to the core.
R.I.P. Bob "Coz" Cosby.
