AmiRaoul wrote: Mr. Fleecy Moss, Vice President of Product Development for Amiga Inc. posted on the amigaone ML over the subject of what graphic cards AmigaOne will support: "It is the next generation card that Matrox develop. However, all that means is that for Amiga products, that is the only card we will support WHEN it comes out, and we cannot at this time reveal that information. The G450 will be supported, and I believe Eyetech have arranged for the V3 to also be supported."

Fleecy: AmigaOne supported gfx cards : Comment 21 of 31 | ANN.lu |
Posted by Hans-Joerg Frieden on 25-Mar-2001 22:00 GMT | In reply to Comment 1 (m0ns00n): Concentrating on one hardware makes sense. The number one reason for compatibility problems on Windows (and on linux too) is graphics driver issues. Concentrating on a specific hardware will allow the drivers to be fine-tuned for optimal performance, plus developers won't need to have four different graphics card to ensure the thing works. Finally, it allows you to count on certain features to be present from the start. On consoles like the PS2 or Dreamcast, you have pretty much the same situation, and the Xbox is so attractive to game developers exactly because of the same reasons. |
