AmiRaoul wrote: Mr. Fleecy Moss, Vice President of Product Development for Amiga Inc. posted on the amigaone ML over the subject of what graphic cards AmigaOne will support: "It is the next generation card that Matrox develop. However, all that means is that for Amiga products, that is the only card we will support WHEN it comes out, and we cannot at this time reveal that information. The G450 will be supported, and I believe Eyetech have arranged for the V3 to also be supported."

Fleecy: AmigaOne supported gfx cards : Comment 7 of 31 | ANN.lu |
Posted by Solar (BAUD) on 25-Mar-2001 22:00 GMT | Oh, people, come on and *think*.
As for "why Matrox": Matrox allowed them to have a look into their chip schematics. nVidia most likely didn´t - they don´t even have the Linux geeks have a peek.
As for "why *only* Matrox": Amiga Inc. is on very limited funds. Writing (and supporting) drivers is expensive. If you read Fleecy´s statement (and other statements made earlier) cautiously, you will see that the Matrox card is the one that will be supported *initially*. It is very likely that others will follow, either because Amiga Inc. then has the funds to do so, or because other manufacturers might supply their own driver set. |
