Fleecy explains what normal users can do to make the next AmigaOS a success: Buying products, subscribing to magazines, evangelising to the world, nagging non Amiga developers to get on board, showing off to your friends, forming Amiga clans and kicking non Amiga clan backsides in games, joining and participating in local Amiga User groups, and working in Team Amiga and other internet based groups. (..) We should start some sort of almost evangelical thing - A target of 50,000 registered OS4 users, and all work towards that end.
I have to admit that the "evangelical thing" sounds pretty scary to me. :)

Fleecy: how normal users can contribute : Comment 31 of 32 | ANN.lu |
Posted by Crumb on 13-Apr-2001 22:00 GMT | I am the owner of an Amiga Technologies' A4000T with a Cyberstorm060/60, a bunch of ram, a picasso4, an ethernet and multi I/O, etc... I am a bit angry with the announcement of AmigaOS 4 because it is stated that it will require an A1200 motherboard to run old apps. That is just crap. I don't want to buy an A1200 to finish Amiga Inc's stock of 1200, I want a new machine I don't want AGA compatibility because I already have an A4000T, I'm proud of it and I'm not going to sell it. So I have to wait for AmigaOS 4.2... that is crap. Or should I buy a crappy 1200 buy a scandoubler, (somebody uses 15khz monitors nowadays?) buy a shitty tower and buy a high density floppy disk drive, and have two boards floating inside a bad looking and uncomfortable tower? I moved from my 1200 to my 4000 because I hated hacks. Come on, I want a new machine, I don't need AGA compatibility, so you can trow out the logic needed for the atx main board to connect it to an A1200... I don't want to buy an A1200, it was supposed that AmigaOS4 wouldn't require old hardware, and if you wait to release AmigaOS 4.2 you will have to wait to see any sales, because that is what people wants, they want to sell their old A1200s and have a new machine, imagine that a friend wants the new Amiga, he just has bought the board with AmigaOS4 when he realizes that he has to attach a 8 year old motherboard, trow out its atx tower because the stupid a1200 board doesn't fit, etc... listen Amiga Inc, if you do this, you will loose sales, you should release AmigaOS 4.2 directly, so don't hold your breath waiting to see lot of AmigaOS4.0 sales... by the way please, talk to DCE, they should make the AmigaOS4.x compatibility layer now or many PPC owners will be disapointed and will switch to morphos, it offers now hardware independency, virtual memory, multiprocessor support... and I hope that the pegasus runs AmigaOS4.2 because I can't see the point in buying the eyetech's solution because I don't want AGA compatibility... |
