In their article, The Register quote an Apple source claiming that they've received from Motorola G5 processors running at a whopping 2.4GHz. Also, Apple have apparently already shipped a small batch of G5-equipped Macs to key developers.

Then how does bplan explain the Mac models that accept something called a
ZIF CPU module, and the 3rd parties (Sonnet Technologies, Xlr8, even Metabox
at one time) making CPU cards that fit said Mac models, in the computer's
ZIF socket?
If these CPU cards from the different companies didn't adhere to what Apple
put in the ZIF socket on their computers, then how could any of these 3rd party
CPU cards possibly function in the Apple host computers?
