Amigo follows up on serious allegations about H&P and says: "I also just asked Unisys as it says here, and am waiting for a reply. If true, H&P could probably be forced to close."
[ If H&P indeed didn't pay royalties for Unisys' GIF algorithm, they might not be forced to close per se, but if this is indeed true, and Unisys decides to sue, they might have to pay some serious fines. Also note that while this is not in unmoderated, it's highly speculative, unconfirmed and generally should be taken with the usual grain of salt - CK ]

Serious allegations about H&P : Comment 106 of 164 | ANN.lu |
Posted by Dave on 10-Nov-2001 10:01 GMT | In reply to Comment 81 (Anonymous): Sure, in comment 16 if I remember it correctly ( and I cant face pressing back to reload
how much K this thread has got to ) where I voice my suspicion that the thread on
H+P had been pulled out of another thread where the claimant seemed to cite this
as a point in discussion about MorphOS - and the claimant had indicated earlier that
he/she was on the MorphOS side.
I should not have voiced that, because as you say people are being far to sensitive.
Oh and the other anonymous, as far as I can make out BAF is blind amiga follower
which is a term I first came across on a #morphos channel, but may have been used
elsewhere before then.
It is meant to say two things as I read it:
1) You are blind therefore nothing you say is relevant.
2) Any follower of Amiga must be blind.
So, very offensive and not at all grown up. One of the reasons that MorphOS has
sunk as a platform choice in my mind. Its a shame in some ways that when you buy
into a platform you also buy into its community - and the Amiga community for many years
has been full of unsavoury characters.
I dont like the way that people are throwing muck around, the people originating the
muck are far from clean themselves. This goes for all sides ( its more than both now! ).
I agree with the people that want to leave the platform now - because of what we seem
to have been left with in the userbase is fanaticism and adolescent teenagers.
However, given that the recompile costs are so small and I have sunk a lot of money
into the platform I will continue to to support it for as long as I own an Amiga.
Now, I hope Mikey got his BVision in time! :-)
