Amigo follows up on serious allegations about H&P and says: "I also just asked Unisys as it says here, and am waiting for a reply. If true, H&P could probably be forced to close."
[ If H&P indeed didn't pay royalties for Unisys' GIF algorithm, they might not be forced to close per se, but if this is indeed true, and Unisys decides to sue, they might have to pay some serious fines. Also note that while this is not in unmoderated, it's highly speculative, unconfirmed and generally should be taken with the usual grain of salt - CK ]

Serious allegations about H&P : Comment 124 of 164 | ANN.lu |
Posted by Ben Hermans/Hyperion on 10-Nov-2001 23:07 GMT | In reply to Comment 123 (David Scheibler): @David S.
>And I still don't see the phase5-bplan connection.
Really? That's a complete surprise.
>What's when a court decides that H&P had no right to sell AmiTCP with
>Amithlon and OS3.9 then I should blame your company because you
>are (were a former) partner of H&P?
Ahem. You obviously don't understand the word "partner".
This is a legal term, not whatever you have in mind.
A partner is a "Gesellschafter". Nobody in Hyperion ever was a partner of H&P.
> And when a H&P employee then joins Hyperion it's even more worse?! Is *that* >the thing you wanted to tell me?
Just imagine this scenario:
I, as managing partner of Hyperion, invite everybody to pre-order the AmigaOne and assure everybody that any prepayments will be placed in an escrow account.
Subsequently I declare the company bankrupt, take the money (no escrow account) and run.
Afterwards I found a new company called cPlan and start selling hardware again.
You don't see anything wrong there?
There is no connection between cPlan and Hyperion in this case?
Say that I am not a partner but an employee (manager). I do the same and found a new company.
This doesn't offend your sense of justice as it does with H&P and AmiTCP?
You don't think that according to your standard of moral indignation that bPlan whose partners were all/the vast majority either management or partners of Phase 5, should be treated with the same attitude as H&P?
Hypocrisy is the only word I can think of. |
