Amigo follows up on serious allegations about H&P and says: "I also just asked Unisys as it says here, and am waiting for a reply. If true, H&P could probably be forced to close."
[ If H&P indeed didn't pay royalties for Unisys' GIF algorithm, they might not be forced to close per se, but if this is indeed true, and Unisys decides to sue, they might have to pay some serious fines. Also note that while this is not in unmoderated, it's highly speculative, unconfirmed and generally should be taken with the usual grain of salt - CK ]

Serious allegations about H&P : Comment 80 of 164 | ANN.lu |
Posted by Dave on 09-Nov-2001 14:57 GMT | In reply to Comment 74 (Anonymous): OK, I owe you more than my initial reaction which was to laugh out loud and wake up my colleagues.
Im *not* a BAF and you should not label everyone who does not scream out "run from the AmigaOS platform RUN RUN RUN!!!" as such. My comment was tongue in cheek to be honest with you.
Im also not a BMF. Im not a BLF or a BQF or a BBF or a BWF or whatever acronym you choose to put me in a container that you can flame.
I am clearly a lot more tolerant of the tripartate official "Amiga" direction than others, a little less tolerant than the childish flaming and guilty of baiting a little. Im guilty of not following up to those that I think are irrational and likely to disagree with me for the hell of it ( or for spelling mistakes ) but then its my life, my choice.
I was not impressed about the public allegations against MorphOS, Im not impressed with some of the MorphOS "followers" comments or the the AmigaOS "followers". In fact I think a large majority of the Amiga "community" talks out of its backside.
I do enjoy using AmigaOS, but I do so knowing its limitations. I dont think that MorphOS fixes those limitations more than AmigaOS4.0.
But here is my preference, in order:
1) AmigaOS3.9/68k
2) AmigaOS4.0/AmigaONE
3) Linux 68k/APUS
4) AROS
5) MorphOS
6) QNX
7) AmigaDE
8) ....
So, Im using (1) ( amongst others ) at the moment. If (2) fails to be delivered then Ill move onto (3), if that fails to capture my attention (4), then (5) ....
What has put me off (5)? Well a lot of the labelling of people as "BAFs" to be honest and the fact that one of the major put offs of using an Amiga and having internet access is being exposed to cretins. This is as true for AmigaOS as it is for MorphOS but AmigaOS is the sanctioned direction.
I see cretins in the Linux community - mostly on Slashdot or on IRC.
So, whats it all about? Freedom of choice. I dont believe in freedom of speech because that affects others, I believe in responsible speech. I do believe in freedom of choice because it effects me.
If any of the providers of alternatives on my list want to go up the list or down then they know what they have to do:
(1) Impress
(2) Be attractive to develop for ( from a cretinous percentile factor as well as a technology factor )
(3) Be available to purchase
(4) Have some kind of future
So stop calling me a BAF. Im just not a blind anything. If that makes me look high and mighty then, to be fair, as its your perception, its your problem because Im not actually doing anything to hurt you am I?
