[Forum] Any interest in Zorro cards? | ANN.lu |

I am currently toying with the idea of designing a Zorro card for the Amiga. What would the interest be in a card with the following:
10/100 mbit Ethernet, 2 X High speed serial ports, 1 X ECP/EPP parallel port & IrDa?
There is some preliminary information on my website
I am also looking at the possibility of adding a Zorro to ISA bridge and making the card work in Zorro 2 and Zorro 3 Amigas.
Are there any other features you would like?
If you are interested, please email me. If there is enough interest I will look at making some prototypes and if feasible, a short production run.

Any interest in Zorro cards? : Comment 109 of 147 | ANN.lu |

No it's not a good idea because there's already great PCI cards for you to use. It's not like we've got some Z3 cards that are so good we can't live without them. You could go get the most basic and econo-card off a WallMart shelf and it'll blow the doors off the most high-end Zorro3 card. If you're referring to the AmigaOne then adding Zorro3 compaitibility is a waste of money and effort. You might not think this now, but once you sit infront of something like an AmigaOne you'll realize how crappy the Z3 cards are.
Also keep in mind very few Z3 cards for the Amiga used original onboard chips. All the graphics, sound and network cards used chips built for the ISA/PCI markets. So why not just use them in the configuration they were designed for?
