[Forum] Any interest in Zorro cards? | ANN.lu |

I am currently toying with the idea of designing a Zorro card for the Amiga. What would the interest be in a card with the following:
10/100 mbit Ethernet, 2 X High speed serial ports, 1 X ECP/EPP parallel port & IrDa?
There is some preliminary information on my website
I am also looking at the possibility of adding a Zorro to ISA bridge and making the card work in Zorro 2 and Zorro 3 Amigas.
Are there any other features you would like?
If you are interested, please email me. If there is enough interest I will look at making some prototypes and if feasible, a short production run.

Well I could do that, and I probably should, but instead I'll do my very best at pissing you of by replying. Can't get rid of me that easily. :-P
>And you are a commited Amiga user? I highly doubt it.
I hope you're not a cop because your investigative skills, not to mention intuition, is pretty sad. Why would I be on an Amiga forum so many years after C= died if I'm not a committed Amiga user? Why do I bother to post? Why do I take part in developer forums? Why do I still own two Amigas? Because I'm a troll? I got better things to do actually. I'm here because I care. I don't know why I'm explaining myself to you...
>Anyone who thinks that porting AmigaOS to x86 is "the cure" is a fucking idiot.
Obviously you majored in philosophy. Very good argument you have presented here. Let this be a lesson to us all!
>BeOS didn't make it. What makes you think AmigaOS will?
Um, buy the same argument I can claim that BeOS's first attempt was with PPC hardware and it too failed, which is why they moved to an Intel platform. So what does that prove? It proves that BeOS failed on PPC and on Intel. What's the lesson learned??? It's hard to create a new OS and move into the mainstream market. However, the first lesson is that it's much harder to move into the mainstream hardware market then it is into the software market. Take careful note that Be's hardware department closed far before the software department did. So, we could make the same mistake BeOS did by going to PPC, and when we find out that no one is buying the expensive proprietary motherboards so we switch to Intel as a last ditch effort.... Hopefully Amiga will survive a bit better then BeOS. Let's hope and pray, because that's all that can save it now.
>I'm a fanatic because I want the Amiga to be it's own machine, not some
>windows addon.
Well, considering this thread is about Zorro vs PCI, I'm not sure why one would be compelled to blurt out how all Amithlon users are infact loosers. However, having said that, I don't see how users who use Amithlon hurt the community. Everyone who buys Amithlon knows what it is; An emulator anbd pretty damn good one. It helps expand the market a little bit and keeps people who might otherwise be out of the community in touch with what's going on inside the community. The more users we can get the better. Anyways, since Amithlon is really not a real Amiga, it does not run natively really, it also has no future. AmigaOS4.0 will NOT run on Amithlon. Knowing that you should not feel threatened by it. It is there mostly for nostalgia sake, the real Amiga will emerge as the AmigaOne. Hopefully it will be succesful. I have my doubts, but that's my opinion and I'm allowed that (I hope).
>And I'm hurting the Amiga community how?
By pissing off other Amiga users like myself. Going around calling people idiots because they see things a little differently isn't exactly helping your cause either. We all want to see the Amiga prosper, but no one is gonna want to touch it if they see fanatics like you blithering on and on about how everyone who doesn't use an Amiga is a loser, blah blah blah...
>Are YOU the Amiga community?
I sure hope not, cause then it would be just you and me! egad!
