I am currently toying with the idea of designing a Zorro card for the Amiga. What would the interest be in a card with the following:
10/100 mbit Ethernet, 2 X High speed serial ports, 1 X ECP/EPP parallel port & IrDa?
There is some preliminary information on my website
I am also looking at the possibility of adding a Zorro to ISA bridge and making the card work in Zorro 2 and Zorro 3 Amigas.
Are there any other features you would like?
If you are interested, please email me. If there is enough interest I will look at making some prototypes and if feasible, a short production run.

Yes, and didn't they start off on PPC? And wasn't it the hardware side of Be that failed first? I think so... And it was pretty good to... A friend of mine had a dual PPC Be system. Very impressive, but no one wanted to buy an expensive proprietary piece of hardware so Be was forced to go Intel. So what does that tell you?

Linux was not designed for home use, but some companies thought it had a chance. I think Linux is great for servers at work, but I'm not sure I'd want to set it up at home. That's why Linux never cracked the home market, it's really not geared for that. HOWEVER, Linux pretty much owns the internet server market. Microsoft lags behind linux there, which proves MS is not invincible, you just gotta be smart about it. One more thing, Linix is also available on PPC, however, the most prefered and common hardware base is x86. This just shows that when people are allowed a choice most would pick x86 over PPC. You can sit and argue how PPC is far better until your blue in the face, people will still buy x86. Sorry.
>X86 system are closed system controlled by Microsoft.
Windows is controlled by Microsoft. The hardware however is pretty open to everyone. It is true that the hardware makers cater to MS, but it doesn't stop you from using it for things other then Windows.
