Warp3D software render driver : Comment 97 of 158 | ANN.lu |

Ah, I see. So allowing a free software renderer which will be usable with AmigaOne and Pegasos, irrespective of whether Eyetech or bPlan pay a Warp3D license fee, is not a commercial issue. Neither is allowing the renderer to be used with any PPC system, licensed or not. Only 68k emulated on x86 is a commercial issue. Thank you for clearing that up.
> Cough up the license and end of story.
As far as I can make out, you are not offering the same licensing terms as to everyone else. Either way, I am a USER, so under your license terms I am free to use Warp3D.
> All we got from Harald Frank so far was "well, I
> already have Warp3D running on Amithlon".
You haven't read the posts on this thread? He specifically asks for THE SAME LICENSE TERMS AS THOSE OFFERED TO AMITHLON'S COMPETITORS. At no point have either you or the Frieden brothers made any indication that you are prepared to do that. It's a fair request, as is your demand for a fee.
> Hyperion is not a charity and 300 DM for Amithlon/AmigaXL
> package ain't exactly a give-away either.
The Amithlon authors don't get all that, as you well know. The biggest part of that fee goes to Haage & Partner and Amiga Inc. Since they would share in any profits derived from selling more copies, perhaps they should pay too. Then again, you know all about getting money out of Amiga Inc, don't you. :)

Me? I'll tell you what: I'll give you 99.99% of my Amithlon derived income, and you give "us" the Warp3D license. Deal?
Seriously, the AMOUNT is not a problem. As you say, it's quite small, though it would probably represent a significant portion of the profit made by either one of the Amithlon authors so far. The problem is the TERMS of support - or lack thereof - that you are offering.
It seems that your opinion of Amithlon as a second rate platform with second rate users has led you to offer only a second rate license. Under those circumstances, I cannot blame Harald for not wanting to play along. |
