As many of us already understood, the G3 based "supercomputer" to which CoyoteFlux referred in their interview was a bPlan Pegasos. They've got some more infos at THENDIC-France.

Thendic France announce worldwide Pegasos reseller program : Comment 62 of 70 | ANN.lu |
Posted by JGen on 13-Apr-2002 17:33 GMT | In reply to Comment 61 (Johan Rönnblom): Man, I can't make it any clearer for you.
It isn't a case of "they will be shipping soon" it's a case of it
takes 4 weeks from the time you place your ORDER for the boards to be
produced in the far east and shipped to eyetech for them to send out
to customers.
It's no different from you phoning up a dealer to ORDER a mouse,
there is obviously a delay between you saying "I want a mouse" to it
arriving at your house. Which may be a bit longer if they don't have
any mice in stock and have to get the mouse company to make one for
you.
A PREorder generally is used to see if there is enough interest, and
to get funds to develop a product.
Like paying a dealer for a mouse before they've designed the damn
thing let alone built it. PRE means before.
Does that make sense or do I have to draw pictures? |
