Amiga Inc. April executive update : Comment 51 of 186 | ANN.lu |

I fail to see what hardware you are talking about. Power4 based server systems from IBM? Apple hardware? The Nintendo Gamecube?
OS 4.x runs self-hosted (and not on a Linux/QNX kernel).
It's a fallacy to believe that we can and want to support every piece of PPC hardware.
There's a lot of work involved there and therefore any decision to support any such hardware would need to be based on economic considerations ("is it worth it?").
Secondly, we would also require the cooperation of the manufacturers (chipset and hardware documentation).
Thirdly, we would also require Amiga's permission to do so.
I honestly don't understand what you are getting worked up about.
Ofcourse the entire AmigaOne / OS 4.x projects are geared towards the existing community and possibly to former Amiga users who have fond memories of the platform.
I believe it to be completely unrealistic at this point to think that you will be able to entice people away from Windows, Apple or Linux which never had any Amiga connection.
For that the available content is simply underwhelming (not in terms of quality but quantity). |
