I see. I doubt it will be that easy to "modify" it unless you intend to clone the AmigaOne. If you don't use the same components, I think you'll find that the software too may need to get modified.
I get questions about supporting the iBook and Apple hardware for instance. All I can say is: "we may look at that a later point but don't get your hopes up because if it is too much work, we won't do it".
I personally don't believe a lot of Apple users are dying to cross over to the Amiga platform unless we are dealing with some former Amiga users.
I don't know what Amiga's plans are in this area but I'm confident that if they spot a serious business opportunity, they'll explore it and we would want them to.
As it stands, it's more a "we will cross that bridge when we get to it" proposition.
Let's imagine some large Korean company produces cheaper and faster PPC hardware (than the AmigaOne).
Nothing prevents anyone else from buying that hardware in large quantities and talking to Amiga about getting a trademark license and OEM deal.
I honestly don't view it as an issue at this point in time.
If circumstances change, this may change but I don't see that happening any time soon. |
