Err, did you read the mail to which you claim to be replying? I said what would Amiga gain by not having OS4 run on PegasOS? Are you unable to divorce the Pegasos from MorphOS?
We have no problems whatsoever with bPlan as a hardware company. We don't even have problems with them having their own OS - competition is good, and to be honest, it's none of our business if they create a new OS. What we have problems with is them offering an illegally derived compatability layer with our product, the same way any other OS company would have an issue.
I wish bPlan all the success in the world. They have (allegedly) a great hardware product. I wish they would work with us to put OS4 on it, but as with many on this list, they don't seem to be able to separate the PegasOS from MorphOS.
Either they want to be a PPC hardware company selling embedded solutions, PPC Linux and a standalone, developed from scratch OS for it, or/and they could also have AmigaOS4 running on it, selling into the Amiga market. They cannot however sell a product with illegally derived elements in it.

There are 3 cases here:
1) You win, bplan goes bankrupt, you never get a single penny, MOS users
leave the Amiga scene out of frustration.
2) You lose, bPlan strikes back, you go bankrupt.
3) You do not strike, both you and bPlan are fine, OS4 and MOS will live
together, competition will wind up the Amiga market. That's not market
spliting, it's called competition.
About 1) and 2)... You can never know who will win. It will be gambling.
Will you guys risk it after spending 5 milion dollars just to BUY the name,
and then thousants to build up your company? |
