the next ppc amiga : Comment 91 of 359 | ANN.lu |
Posted by Darrin on 19-May-2002 17:30 GMT | In reply to Comment 75 (Ole-Egil Hvitmyren): Oh boy - did I just waste 19 minutes downloading when I could have gone outside to watch some grass grow instead. I stand by my comments at #16 as this "video" was obviously filmed in Tibet and stars a shaven Yeti as a nervous computer installer.
So what do we get out of this? An idiots guide to standard computer ports, and proof that MOS can run (briefly) Candy Factory (let's make this a VERY SHORT demo before it CRASHES).
Someone should have told this guy that looking at a flickering PC monitor screen that's been filmed by a home video camera is akin to watching a ballet lit by strobe lights. By sqinting carefully and pressing my nose against my VDU I could just make out the WORKBENCH 3.x screen which is obviously what makes this MOS demo so usefull.
Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but is this not a demo of:
1. MOS running Workbench which needs to be removed & subsituted before it can be legally sold.
2. A Pegasos board which is ONLY shown to use a MOUSE PORT, IDE CONTROLLER and VIDEO OUT. Yes, it was so nice to spend 5 minutes being introduced to all the other ports, but do they work?
3. The Pegasos has a G3 card available and it WILL take a dual G4 and a G5. Well, as there is no G5 card available as they don't have a G5 chip to make this claim, we can only suppose that the dual G4 is vapour too. The proof is that the Pegasos is a G3 machine ONLY for now, it may have a dual G4 in the future and WHO HONESTLY KNOWS if it will EVER take a G5.
Sorry guys, but next time you make a video, make lots of "takes" and edit them together instead of swinging your handi-cam around and playing with the zoom, use a camera with a frame rate that doesn't result in "scrolling" monitor displays, dub the sound in later so you get an even "narrated" quality instead of a wheezing effect and finally, when showing the display, use an adapter to transfer the video output directly to the videotape instead of just filming the unwatchable "scrolling" screen.
"move along everyone, there's nothing to see..." |
