I uploaded on Aminet a video in Mpeg showing the AmigaOne booting
TurboLinux.
Hi,
This video is old (March 2002) and not professional in any way (in fact, it never meant to be).
I originally wanted to upload it on my website instead of putting this huge file on Aminet but my
ISP didn't allow me this. So here it is, to make Aminet even bigger !
Remember this AmigaOne is the prototype (G3/600Mhz) and it runs TurboLinux. And I must confess,
I never seen a Linux booting that fast. I'm excited to get my hand on AmigaOS4...
Thanks.
Elwood

AmigaOne Mpeg : Comment 30 of 85 | ANN.lu |
Posted by Anonymous on 02-Jun-2002 19:04 GMT | Wow. This explains EVERYTHING...
Rose criticised the Pegasos video for showing the PC being set up because she was feeling defensive about this A1 video! What did she have to say about it?
"I'm surprised you could make out anything on the screen, the refresh rate being exactly what was required to get maximum unusability."
On the Pegasos movie I can clearly recognise the application software (and Rei + Asuka standing in the snow of course) once it's up and running, although it is very badly affected by flicker during the boot sequence.
OTOH What we see of the A1 in this video (we see a lot of wine glasses, partly constructed cases and of the people, but not so much of the A1 hardware or the LinuxPPC system running on it) is barely readable at any time. I can recognise Netscape and at one point the GIMP, but I can't see which version (I know it's old because our splashscreen hasn't looked like that for years)
So what do we learn? (1) Neither camp have learned not to film monitors with ordinary video cameras (2) I like Neon Genesis: Evangelion (3) Alan can't choose secure passwords (4) Rose isn't smart enough to know when to keep quiet |
