"From: Raquel Velasco and Bill Buck. We would like to announce that the next scheduled production of the Pegasos has been sold out. Boards have been set aside for friendly developers, but all others have been sold. Another production of the Pegasos will follow in July." [ Source: Email forward... - CK ]

Next Pegasos production sold out : Comment 158 of 280 | ANN.lu |
Posted by Bill on 09-Jun-2002 03:03 GMT | Good morning!
OK, where did we leave off...
1. Why are we promoting hardware here?
Because we are looking for good developers and this works. We have found three new developers just like this and begun to have relationships with many others who have provided us useful insight and information into a variety of issues. The fact that the Pegasos is selling is interesting to any developer who wants to get in on this project early. Again, the Pegasos is a DEVELOPMENT MACHINE for the eclipsis. Please refer to www.thendic-france.com if you have questions.
2. In the meanwhile, what is the market for the Pegasos (while the eclipsis is in development)?
Probably: 1) Linux users, 2) embedded system developers, 3) application developers that want to do rendering on stacked boards with dual processors or build something very special that has a huge amount of processing power...
3. Will "Amiga" be a big market for us? We do not think so. First, because we are not an official Amiga piece of hardware, and secondly because we are using MorphOS. The two just don't go together.
4. How about the hardware issues and DCE....
As Amifan pointed out having the ability to prototype your own boards is a big plus. We are working with DCE because we can do that there as if it was our own shop. Forget all the other BS. There is no conspiracy against anything...has anyone noticed that the official bplan/MorphOS team has been absent from all these discussions for months? That is because they are hard at work and they know what they have to do. They are working with a great deal of confidence and they should be! The Pegasos and MorphOS are both great products. Is DCE involved in those activities...no. When we are ready to make a board we go to DCE and bring everything we need with us. That is it...
Just out of curiosity for all you folks that are carefully reading this -- how many people out there can document and forward it to us at the email address above either 1) a receipt for money lost or other proof of a paid order to Phase 5 when Phase 5 went bankrupt, or, 2) proof of money or a damaged board sent to DCE for repairs that was never returned, etc. We would really like to understand all the FUD on this. Our email address is good and our interest is genuine. By document, we would like to see an airbill, a cancelled check, an email exchange or just about anything that shows proof of loss. Any help here interests us. Thanks in advance for digging through your old records!
5. Re: Rose/Miss Teapot...
We can answer all her questions. We can do it here or privately. We have absolutely nothing to hide. Rose rejected our request to call her and the emails between us directly have been less than constructive -- completely on her account. We sent her the email addresses of our chief auditor and our corporate lawyer. She has chosen the public forum. We have been forced to respond.
Rose, we have concluded that you are not really interested in answers. What bothers us about you is that you select the "facts" that you want to make your points and ignore other information to the contrary. Your posts are full of this and that is why we think you are so out of order. You are hardly the professional you claim to be.
You did have one good idea though... after our 28 June Pretory SA board meeting when our 2001 accounts are approved we will post them on our website.
As to my poor performance (thanks for making this all so personal), what do you know about me, or Raquel, or anyone else at Pretory, Thendic (Germany or France), bplan, Pretory Technology, YVICam, etc.? What do you gain by bad-mouthing others personally? You started this. So, yes, that is a good idea...go to Google and do plenty of research and you or *anyone* out there can write us. We will be happy to have the dialogue. There are more than a few that know we can have a civilized exchange of information and opinion.
6. Re: Mr. ginger@bread.man
Climb out from under the bed with Turrican and the other anonymous posters and send me an email (without a virus). When we have had an exchange of opinions and information then you can call me whatever you want. In the meanwhile, I think you are a coward. Write me and we might change our minds and consider your opinion.
7. Re: Ben Hermans and FUD
Earlier on this thread we posted a statement about providing useful and helpful information to Ben in support of Hyperion's OS 4 effort. I do not want to quibble about this but we define "sources" and "source code" as two different things. Let's forget about my poor choice of words and consider the benefit of what was provided. Was it useful or not? Did we assist? Ben, are you willing to have us share the email with this thread that you sent us expressing your appreciation for what was provided? Please do not hide behind your "legal" objections? As we said in the last email we sent you, you are a talented and intelligent young man, but no more FUD. Your letter to ZDF was another classic example. Should we post this too? And, if you are serious about all your legal rantings you better get someone better than a real estate specialist to represent you in Frankfurt. You won't be jerking us around and if you are not careful you will find yourself in a very challenging legal position. No BS. No FUD. You will be held accountable. MorphOS is not illegal and does not need AmigaOS 3.x and certainly not 4.0 -- whatever that is. As another poster said -- "put up or shut up."
As an after-thought, maybe we should have taken a picture at the Cologne Amiga Show last December when Raquel and I, Gerald and Thomas (bplan/MorphOS), Rakesh and Sharwin (Coyote Flux/Thendic-France) and Juergen Haage (Haage and Partner) sat with you and the Freiden brothers and told you we were *all* ready to assist you. Petro even stopped by to give us encouragement. You had just announced that everything would be released shortly, but we all knew you were months away. Why didn't you want to cooperate Ben?
8. Yes, those Motorola processors we referenced were G4s.
Please get all your questions out...we will stay here as long as there are issues to be addressed! Or, at least until "work" on Monday...:)
Thanks,
Bill |
