Next Pegasos production sold out : Comment 192 of 280 | ANN.lu |
Posted by Tony Gore on 09-Jun-2002 13:06 GMT | In reply to Comment 186 (Bill): "We are flipping anyone off. The Pegasos mainboard can be configured by resllers and if they are able to get Amiga "approval" then great! "
Ok Bill, that's more of what I would expect to hear. Not the statement that its "up to you" (meaning the customer) to get OS4 running on it. I personally liked the Pegasos hardware. That would be my choice if I had one. But my preference in OS will continue to be OS4 and not MOS. I don't wish to prevent anyone else from using MOS if it is their choice, and if it is as you say completely legal. Doesn't bother me a bit. No more so than people choosing to run Linux or QNX or whatever. This whole issue has gone really out of hand, and for no good reasons. Amiga users have been asking for clarification about resellers licensing AmigaOS4 for the Pegasos, and this is the first time I recall reading someone actually saying that this is possible, instead of just saying "we don't care about OS4" or "it's up to you to make it run on Pegasos" or similiar comments.
Actually, I keep reading threads about Pegasos because I'm interested in the hardware to use with OS4. I'm not trying to put down MOS or anyone else. It's easy to read things the wrong way and feel insulted by them. I just want good hardware to go along with OS4 and some clear answers about how that can be achieved. If it is through resellers, then ok, let's make that publicly clear once and for all. Then alot of this "fighting" or whatever it is can be put aside. No need in everyone tearing each other apart. There are obviously good things coming from both sides, and I would even say good and bad people on both sides. |
