AwebPPC released : Comment 111 of 221 | ANN.lu |
Posted by Daniel Miller on 17-Jun-2002 00:18 GMT | In reply to Comment 104 (Alkis Tsapanidis): Alkis Tsapanidis: "Cause I'm not a native speaker. Of course I'm fluint enough not to need to translate from Greek to English in order to speak/write (and vice versa), but I still am a bit strict. Sorry."
You are pretty fluent. When Graham claims "MorphOS will not be able to use such and such from Amiga OS" it can mean one of two things, that MorphOS is incapable of using them or that MorphOS is not allowed to use them. So you understood the one meaning but he meant the other.
But then Graham goes on to say that "anything that shipped with AmigaOS is not allowed to be used with MorphOS" (I'm paraphrasing closely) but this is quite wrong, because most people know that 3.5 and 3.9 included a bunch of 3rd party software. In fact 3.5 and 3.9 made heavy use of 3rd party software bundling to add value to the product. But they didn't buy this 3rd party software outright. Everything is obscured in NDA licensing and a lot of stuff was not even paid for, for example Reaction if you follow these things closely on the 'net. Another case in point is AWeb, which "shipped with Amiga OS" but obviously is not owned by Inc. because Yvon Rozijn just opensourced it, and I guess that is why we are all arguing. ;) |
