It's time to put aside pityful and damaging behavior. The very existance of the community is at stake.
Amiga needs to show now how many active users are out there, and by active I mean people who are willing to invest money in hardware and software. You want to show you're one of them? Get the $50 coupon (and free t-shirt) for an AmigaOne system; you don't care? Don't do anything at all, don't come complaining later when you'll find out that in the real world companies need to show their investors that there is a user base willing to purchase their product. And if you think that even without Amiga Inc. the community is going to survive think again: the numbers are getting smaller by the day, just two or three years ago people were saying there were still 300.000 active users, today we don't even know if there are 50,000 or 10,000 or even less. Without everyone's support the community WILL die. Time to set aside our differences and do one last effort to stay alive. Either you're in or you're out.

TO THOSE WHO DON'T GET IT : Comment 56 of 66 | ANN.lu |
Posted by Alan Croft on 26-Jun-2002 00:15 GMT | I would class an Amigan anybody who buys, intends to buy, something related to Amiga. Even a coffee cup! Someone who uses an Amiga is an Amiga-User. ...Amiga-Buyer... ...WhatsAnOmega?... ...IRememberThose... ...NobodyMakesEm... and so on.
The C64 was the biggest selling computer of all-time so we still have some name recognition.
We really won't know how many Amiga people there are until A1 is released. Because of lot of A500 owners went straight over to consoles, word-of-mouth will be a critical marketing aspect.
Amiga retail here in Australia is practically nil, so I'm hoping international postage doesn't add too much when I buy my next-gen Amiga (I've stopped all my hobby & PC spending in readiness).
I've got a good feeling that Amiga will pick up market share and software support. Mostly because Windows sucks more than a black-hole, and always will.
Also Amiga users are much more talented that Mac users.
Linux and OS/2 warp do have some good coders but it doesn't seem to make an impact. |
