Want to see how ppc demos look like? : Comment 5 of 10 | ANN.lu |
Posted by Lando / Trinity on 09-Jul-2002 09:07 GMT | I think it's going to be an interesting time for the sceners when the Amiga finally goes 100% PPC. 90% of the demos released even now are 68k only. And to abandon the "real" Amiga (meaning paula/aga/copper/blitter) would, to some, seem like we are abandoning our heritage.
I think we'll split into two factions - some will stay with the old Amiga hardware, and others (like the groups who are already making PPC demos such as MaWi, Potion, etc) will embrace this new technology.
Personally I'm in two minds. On one hand I love the Amiga chipset - I enjoy sitting in front of devpac coding the blitter and copper in 68k asm, and writing demos in 'C' using someone elses 3D API just doesn't have the same appeal - it's not "real" democoding like I remember it... But on the other hand, the new technology opens up new possibilities for the scene. |
