new Screenshots of Rage Harde released : Comment 42 of 135 | ANN.lu |

Actually the average games player is no longer the spotty 12-year-old school kid, it's the 25-year-old professional male who has grown up with games and is still playing them - Exactly the type of person who's going to be buying the AmigaOne / Pegasos.
You could apply your argument that "theres no point making an Amiga version cos it's already been out on the PC for years" to pretty much every application / game / utility out there. And where would that leave us? With no software whatsoever.
So what if it's been out on PC for a couple of years - it hasn't been available on Amiga, and that's the whole point. 90% of people who remember the Amiga but haven't owned one for some years think its only capable of playing 2D (the Alien Breed, Superfrog, Rainbow islands) type games.
I've shown such people my PPC+Voodoo3-equipped A4k running the Shogo demo and they've been truly amazed and have steadfastly refused to believe its an Amiga. You can't undersemphasize how important games are to a system - it's games that show how powerful your machine is. Kids aren't impressed by Word Processors and Web browsers - they want to run around killing stuff and blowing shit up.
>If you really are a gamer you should (atleast in my view) have a pretty
>decent pc system or a good console like PS2/Gamecube and get your kicks
>from there, why bother buying 1+ year old games just because you *can* play
>them on your amiga or buying them just to support the gamecompany making
>them?..
Because that's the whole point.... Like I say you could apply that argument to anything - why bother writing a word processor or spreadsheet or web browser for the Amiga - after all, most of us already have PC's so we should just use Word / Excel / IE, right? The whole point of these new powerful Amigas is that we no longer have to use our PCs because our Amiga isnt up to the job - we can use our amigas for Everything, like we used to, and that includes playing games.
>Instead of porting those games that sell like 200 copies, consentrate on
>making something useful/unique so its worth keeping to amiga...
>I *will* buy every app that will come around for amiga/amigaone that I can >use, and I have bought everything available thats useful for me..my latest >purchases are VHI studio (transfer family pics from my digicam) and Ibrowse
>(but use aweb :)
I most recently bought Art Effect and DigiBoosterPro. I didnt buy Shogo because I tried the demo and it was too chuggy on my old BlizzardPPC@166Mhz but now I've got a A4000+CSPPC its nice and fast so I'll buy it. |
