The "I Am Amiga" promotion has ended! : Comment 122 of 134 | ANN.lu |
Posted by Hagge on 28-Jul-2002 11:42 GMT | In reply to Comment 97 (Alkemyst): >your amiga spec is a joke.
>no wonder you think amiga is so fare behind
wow, i guess i haven't noticed that i have not bought any new amiga hardware the last 7 years or so... or not.
Since then does it matter what amiga hardware I've got? You ppl just belive I have no idea of anything at all which is completely wrong.
Even if i would have AmigaOS 3.9 and CyberStorm PPC sitting in a A4000 the hardware would still be slow, the os outdated and there wouldn't be any apps.
And i don't THINK, for almost everyone it's a fact that Amiga is far behind...
>PowerTower
>A1200,060/80Mhz,Heatsink&Fan,66MBRam,PowerFlyerGold,50xCDromdrive,250Zip,2.1GB&34GB
>HD,internal Scandoubler & FF,19"Monitor,Mediator,Voodoo3-3000,PaceSolo 56k
>,PortJnr2,ZEKeys-XS,SMON ,Os3.9
>& that can do things that your spec amiga could not even dream about.
which doesn't matter since there are "no programs" which uses the hardware anyway.
What is wrong with you guys, i've always read ann daily, i do know which hardware and apps is available and which are not, and having a slow overpriced ppc with outdated games just don't happen to be my choice.
scraping AmigaOS and made QNX more amiga-like would have been the correct thing.
>its funny that alot of times i see negative comments by ppl about the way things
>are going & them ppl have low spec amigas. just like the A500 ppl moaned at to
>much stuff not running on a500 & most new stuff is aga.
well, right now there kind of are new stuff and will probably not come any either.
And my specs doesn't change the facts, i just haven't upgrade because there was no meaning to.
A friend got 060 then they where released, was nice and i wanted one but it was to expensive.
I wanted the A\Box but it was never released.
Another friend got Blizzard 603@180MHz then they where released, I was thinking in getting one but because there where no apps released i didn't. Which was a good thing.
Gateways plans for a new amiga sounded good and i wanted one.
Until recently i was thinking about getting an amigaone, lets say a year ago. But then they where talking about a new version of the OS every half year and hardware using G4 which should have been released a long time ago.
Now i don't think their aren't any great development in AmigaOS, the hw is to "bad" and to late and I have started looking at alternatives.
As i said to someone else, you don't have to be "anti-amiga" just because you don't like what you see. A open-source version of AmigaOS would for example give me more hope, because then i would at least know there would be continues development for the os, and that i probably sooner or later could use more and more hardware.
And in the end a similar speced laptop as the AmigaONE costs $1.199 and you get a MODERN os which will probably have 5.000.000 users by the end of the year, which has new apps and which probably will be developed in the future.
The AmigaONE is said to cost $550 or something? I doesn't remember, add a gfxcard $100, memory $50, harddrive $200, case $100, cd-rom $50 and you are at $1050 without a monitor. I don't think the choice is a hard one.
I don't think many ppl do care about my posts and that i therefor shouldn't post them, but as long as ppl missunderstand me and thinks i'm "evil" just because i don't think a say 4.000 ppl userbase will help amiga... |
