"Countdown to the draw: The promotion has ended. Coupon count may still rise as third party dealers submit their sales. Winners will be announced soon."

The "I Am Amiga" promotion has ended! : Comment 83 of 134 | ANN.lu |
Posted by gz on 27-Jul-2002 06:09 GMT | In reply to Comment 81 (amigammc): >>instead of bickering all the time the community could show support and unity, Amiga would have a much better shot at doing things faster and better.
Maybe you are forgetting that when amiga was originally bought by amino, it had very good support and "faith" from the community for a long while.
That support started deteriorating only after amiga inc taking seemingly x amount of time for releasing products such as amigaos4 but claiming otherwise (bogus releasedates for both os and amigaone) making things too reminiscent to the situation before amino ownership (escom, gateway, p5 preorder hassles, antigravity) Also many saw the way amiga inc was handling the whole os4 project before hyperion stuck it's nose to the equation. All that and more has caused a lot of confusion, doubt and anxhiousness in the community which has exploded as heated debates, insults and as lack of unity.
You are absolutely right about investors not wanting to put their money into amiga development (os4+amigaone) but hey lets face it. We are here FOR the amiga market... How many of us would be solely interested in amigaDE only? So amiga inc is having a bit of dilemma there. Their current userbase is not interested in the product they are offering (DE) and amiga inc with it's investors is not hugely interested in the product the userbase is wanting (OS4)
Not a wonder why things don't go ahead without bickering and deteriorating "support" from the "community"
(just my 2 euros) |
