The "I Am Amiga" promotion has ended! : Comment 86 of 134 | ANN.lu |

Mmm, it has been all amigas of course. I liked the OS and the hardware, I liked the idea of A\Box, I liked the idea of what gateway said (until they choosed linux), I almost liked the current idea until it took a long time before anything happened and the G3/G4 was replaced with G3@600MHz.
If the A\Box was released the hw would have owned.
If the ideas from gateway where all amiga machines could have talked with eachother and they had used a QNX-based os things would have been cool.
But if a new Amiga mean low-end hardware at a regular-end price with the same os as the amigas had 10 years ago i don't really see why it's nice or anything. At 1992 the AmigaOS still owned, at 1985 it was even better compared to the rest... But the same os will not be what ppl think is the best one 2002.
And now Apple has already made devices talk to eachother in MacOS X 10.2. You can for example just have your computer close enoughgt another persons computer and he/she can automatically see and use your files (probably just if you wanted this function to be used). Or you can plug in a printer in your network and all your clients automatically finds it and can use it without any configuration.
So, I always read all news items on ann.lu, amiga is still interesting for me, but i wouldn't buy the hardware longer. AmigaDE is probably the thing for Amiga, but i don't know if that is that much "amiga", seems like most companies and so on sees it as TAO-groups work. |
