Sendo device to feature Amiga Anywhere content : Comment 24 of 50 | ANN.lu |
Posted by Solar on 30-Jul-2002 10:27 GMT | "What has it to do with AmigaOS", "who cares" and so on and so on...
Guys, when do you start to realize that, without Amiga*DE*, there would be no money - either earned or lend - to pay for Amiga*OS*?
Do you really believe the AmigaOS 4 will turn a profit? I doubt they will even come near the break-even point. (AFAIK, they did not for either OS 3.5 or OS 3.9, and those two did not require you to buy new hardware...)
Do you believe that *any* venture capitalist is willing to pump money into an "Eyetech and perhaps b-plan hardware" AmigaOS 4?
Drop the cute-colored glasses and start praying that AmigaDE reaps some profit, otherwise bye-bye AmigaOS. And please don't give me the "AmigaOS will survive". It won't become OpenSource - Gateway will see to that since it would endanger their patents - and if there's no-one paying the bills, all the fanatism in the world won't save it.
And without OS 5 finally making it to mainstream hardware... but that's another story. |
