Project Petunia (AmigaOS4 JIT emulator) pages updated and extended with a FAQ.
Project Petunia pages (the emulator, that will be used in AmigaOS4) updated and extended with a FAQ.
After a long period of checking forums, chatboards and answering e-mails I decided to add a FAQ part into the project page. I hope I can clean up all the important questions arising in you. If something is not clear enough feel free to write a mail.

Project Petunia FAQ : Comment 60 of 68 | ANN.lu |
Posted by kjetil on 22-Aug-2002 09:46 GMT | In reply to Comment 58 (Jon): Well it depends if it is patched or not, an patched kickstart can be way over that bindery,
Even if Amiga has not memory protection it has memory chunk flag that tell the system if the memory is to be freed when worm rebooting the system, this is where extended patched exec routines can be allocated, when the flag is set it tells the system it is an system reserved area.
RAD drives is allocated in this memory, there is some limitations on what type of ram that can be system reserved memory how ever I not remember the limitations.
Kickstart 1.3 is just 0.5 megs,
Kickstart 2.0 is just 0.5 megs unpatched
Well an unpatched exec.library it’s smaller then the Kickstart it self, the kickstart contains many library’s and devices that the system use to even read the floppy drive, hardware and so on. |
