> Well I didn't buy that $50 coupon. I take it you didn't either.
Suprised on that one.
> But I don't see why you are so upset with those that did
Certainly it's their money, they can flush it down the toilet all they want. I'm pointing out just how sad the entire event was and noting who allowed/enabled Billed&Fleeced to gain 1K sales, over what, six week period?
> or what you have to gain by insulting everyone around you with that
> "cult"-thing.
The dedication (zealot) was the first tipoff, then the near classic Scientologist methods of controlling the Amiga Kommunity was the clincher for classifying it as a cult. The Executive Updates are getting so bad, even Gary_C can't defend it, and only the true practicing members of this cult can defend it, or even except it as great news from the Mount.
> I doubt anyone is having any problem with the anti-Amiga crowd having another > opinion. It's the arrogant "We're years wiser than you all and you are just
> too stupid to realize it"- attitude that annoys people (at least me). That's
> not having an opinion or trying to make a point. That's just shouting louder

I'm really at a loss on how I fit in the above catagory. I'll give HYPErion some credit where they have earned it (they did it and have rights to it regardless on what happens to Amino's holdings). I'll also state this whole coupon (scam) didn't help them in the least, if anything, hurt them with pathetic sales that took six weeks to get to 1K sold. If I was a Developer, I'd be heading elsewhere.
> The point I was trying to make in my previous comment is that you all seem to > take this Amiga-is-something-bigger thing a lot more serious than the rest of
> us.
If Billed&Fleeced holdings (namely Amiga Inc) were being run properly (ie honestly) and didn't try to do a Clinton on the entire community, I'd wouldn't be anywhere complaining to the levels I've ascending to. Hell, I may even wish them good luck. But it's been a comical error for them since day one when they did not realise Tao wasn't going to make a desktop OS out of Intent, but they market it as such. Then they start putting huge requirements for WB 3.9 (50K) in order to kill off further developement. Then the .com era crashed and burned and they needed Amiga user's money. So guess what they focused on, a subcontractor's OS. Oh boy, hold me back from being impressed there.
> For me it's nostalgia and sentimentalism, a chance to let my A4000 get a
> worthy heir.
Let me get this correct Slim, a underpowered G3 running on a generic POP mobo is the heir to the A4K? I guess I got alot more respect for the A4K's hardware design then you do.
> It would sure feel bad to see this computer truly go into oblivion, but it
> certainly wouldn't kill me. For some of you it seesm like this computer

> consequence of your way of presenting yourselves?
My beef is mostly with those who hold the Amiga trademark. I do not trust them, nor am I impressed by them. Their actions have repeatedly reinforced my opinion of them. I mean I'd be at a loss who to trust more, them or a snake oil salesman.
The issue with PPC, I think technically and economically, it's a bad choice. Time will tell if I am right or not. I don't give either HYPErion or MOS much hope of surviving more then a few years. I grow tired of the windup advo pups yipping and yapping on how great HYPEOS4 is an how bad MOS is or how evil RS is. I rather be reading some head on comparisons on which is better. Hope I'm not shocking you by saying this type of FUD isn't doing the community any good, but it isn't, but the zealots, especially from the BoingBall side, don't give a rat's ass about the community, it's just about the name and logo.
