You're joking, aren't you? Want back in to exactly what? An OS/app pool that's equivalent to a little fraction of what they already have? Right. Actually, I think most of the people talking about running AmigaOS4 on Macs are thinking a little more broadly than that. The point is that if AmigaOS4 were simply sold shrinkwrapped, disclaimers prominently displayed, then if somebody wants to put the time and effort into getting it to run on Macs, then that'd be an aftermarket decision by the consumer. Really, this is an abstract discussion, since nobody knows how easy it'd be or even, with AmigaOS4 not seen yet, whether it'd even be worth the trouble.
> Fair enough, except that the way they're hoping to get back in is to get a l33t pir8 copy of AOS4 to run on their imacs, and the hardware protection on the A1 doesn't let them. Tough $#!7. When was the last time you creeps bought *any* software for *any* platform?
You seem to be confused on this point. The thing people are advocating is precisely that AmigaOS4 maybe *ought to be FOR SALE* untethered to a motherboard, see? If it isn't, then sure as hell somebody will make it available on their own, with the twisted rationale "Amiga won't sell you this, so it's up to me to provide it".
> BTW, Apple is NOT going to give Hyperion the info they need to develop OS4 for the Mac.
Apple didn't give a certain QSSL engineer any info either, but he still got the PPC version of QNX RTP running on an iMac (unofficially). Of course it'd be harder for somebody on the outside.
> It would be FAR more productive IMHO to get bPlan and Amiga talking to each other, since the hardware is much more similar. That of course doesn't suit you either, cos a Peg is not the imac you already own.
Who are you talking to? Somebody is advocating using a Mac specifically to run AmigaOS rather than, say, a Pegasos? I haven't seen that point of view expressed much, if at all. Most people that have a gripe with the Amiga/Eyetech/Hyperion plan just would like to see AmigaOS sales loosened up to take advantage of *any* hardware that might be appropriate.
> Sheesh.
For real.
