Interview with Bill M on Extremetech : Comment 82 of 98 | ANN.lu |
Posted by gz on 12-Nov-2002 22:15 GMT | In reply to Comment 76 (KenH): I agree with your view with the only exception being the one I'm quoting here:
>>Amiga are trying to hold on to a market that's shrinking fast even if they say nothing....maybe especially if they say nothing.
I believe the amiga has followers in the form of the community that's left. They also have to be VERY loyal because they have stayed so far and thru all the delays and broken promises time and after again. Saying nothing, I believe would be a much better option than saying things that are just hot air. Being a forever loyal bunch, the community would probably more or less stay as it is untill os4 gets released (can't be more than a year now at maximum!) Empty promises, overly hyping and twisting the reality will eventually always lead to frustration among the potential customers left in this small community, as you can probably see in the huge rising of critisizim towards AI among even those who have previously stood hard behind McEwen's words.
As to what goes with the silly example which I gave you about the salesmen, wasn't intended to reflect totally the situation with AI. Clearly we are talking about 2 things that cannot be compared in reality. I however did so to present you my point, which was that in a business, there is only one thing worse than a BS salesman and that's a salesman who doesen't know how to BS properly (in a way that's not so transparent.) That will turn customers away even if they expect BS coming from the salesman.
Anyway there is absolutely no way for either us to verify which one of us is right about this subject. Personally I feel we both have valid points, just from different sides. Which is good as it allows conversation and a chance for me to see things from a different perspective aswell. |
