According to Irmen de Jong, the AmigaPython website maintainer, the Python programming language may be included as standard with AmigaOS 4.0.
From the AmigaPython site:
UPDATE november 2002: from very reliable sources I know that AmigaPython might become part of the new Amiga OS 4.0 ! What AREXX was for AmigaDOS 2.x and 3.x, AmigaPython might be for the next generation of Amiga OS (and much more powerful of course)
Further information about Python is available at the Python Home Page.

AmigaOS 4.0 to include Python? : Comment 39 of 94 | ANN.lu |
Posted by - GALAXY - on 25-Nov-2002 11:18 GMT | ... This really affects my decission wether I may become a possible customer of AmigaOS4.0 or not. As I wrote earlier I'm no friend of Python and I avoid it like hell installing it on my Linux System. I know it's more or less a matter of personal taste but I tend to reflect the whole decission going for Python on the whole OS as well. I don't like the idea becoming tied to Python on my possible new OS. Hyperion is giving me a good reason to go for MorphOS or staying on my existing running Linux System and forget about all this. The reason why I cared for either Pegasos or AmigaONE was because I have the possibility to run Linux on it and get a native (Amiga feel/look like Operating System on top). So I don't make that big mistake if the native Operating Systems gonna fail. But knowing that Python is tied to AmigaOS makes it a NO option for me.
This is My personal opinion that don't necessarily reflect the opinions of others. |
