According to Irmen de Jong, the AmigaPython website maintainer, the Python programming language may be included as standard with AmigaOS 4.0.
From the AmigaPython site:
UPDATE november 2002: from very reliable sources I know that AmigaPython might become part of the new Amiga OS 4.0 ! What AREXX was for AmigaDOS 2.x and 3.x, AmigaPython might be for the next generation of Amiga OS (and much more powerful of course)
Further information about Python is available at the Python Home Page.

AmigaOS 4.0 to include Python? : Comment 44 of 94 | ANN.lu |

To be honest, I don't understand what you mean. In the classic OS AREXX was the only possibility. Now we are thinking about bringing in Python (read: *thinking*) as a replacement. Where does it read that all other languages are out of the picture due to that? Did the presence of AREXX stop you from using perl on OS 3.x? I don't think so. So what makes you think that you cannot use perl equally well if not better on OS4? |
