Pictures of ArticiaS and April chip : Comment 85 of 146 | ANN.lu |

No. But that's not the only thing that Alan did in his postings on the Teron mailing list. VIScorp doesn't exist, and what happened 6-8 years ago with that company is irrelevant. Not that I have blind faith in any company or company owner or CEO (that'd be f-cking harmful), NO COMMERCIAL ENTITY does things "for the community" or whatever.
Read Alan's posts again, especially #22808.
"They certainly have noisier ones [testers and developers], but, apart from the 2 or 3 full time bplan employees, there run-of-the mill developers have nowhere near as much experience as our developers/testers (IMO of course - mustn't make too bold a statement on a public list ;-)"
Eyetech has NO hardware developers (not on a logic and PCB design level like is required for e.g. motherboard design and testing, Eyetech solders keyboard adapters and flickerfixers), NO hardware of their own, and their testers are anyone who bought the Teron CX evaluation board, the "developer A1-SE".
The above statement can only be described as "true" for very small values of "true". Above all it's an insult, and it has sweet FA to do with Alan's business, selling other companies' products. "Run-of-the-mill developers"???
This is immediately followed by:
"My point is that for the 7500euro incorporated company that Thendic is, they are either vastly overplaying these problems (my view) or they have just made themselves insolvent with an admitted ~$500,000 financial liability."
What the F-CK does that have to to in a thread about "Re: Articia patch"? What the f-ck does it have to do with the bplan and Mai engineers' competence in finding and fixing bugs? What the hell does the minimum capital required to register a company have to do with the products from one subsidiary of Pretory and Genesi? This is the very definition of FUD (an acronym that some people are so fond of throwing around without justification): spreading fear, uncertainty and doubt about a competitor and his products in your own marketing.
> but then again what most of what Genesi (sp?) are doing are a lot worse,
> actual insults on public websites, as well as threats to people and companies
> ("We will commence legal action against Amiga Inc. this month"
I saw BBRV say that *Amiga, Inc.* are incompetent. We all know that this is sadly true from their (in-)actions, statements and product f-ckups and absence, but it's low by BBRV to say it in public. This does however not excuse Alan, from *Eyetech*, going on with this totally uncalled for, irrelevant and insulting CRAP. Eyetech is just a reseller, they could just as well sell Pegasoses or electric insulation
What's "threatening" about saying that they'll commence legal action against Amiga, Inc? Sounds like a promise to me. A clear, unambiguous statement (apart from "why"?). Unlike saying "some evil guys have stolen from us, we won't say who, what, how and why, we'll leave that for you to speculate on, and if these thieves <hint hint nudge nudge> won't do whatever it is we want them to do, we'll shut them down" - and then NOT do anything, which seems to be at least a contributing factor in the death of Amithlon.
> whilst trying to be the nice guy be saying they want to work with everyone in
> the world!
Anyone but *Amiga, Inc.*, which is the only company that would be on the receiving end of this legal action.
> but then again it is on a mailing list (where information is USUALLY all
> personal opinions and also tend to be answers to what people have to ask on
> it)
A public forum, exactly like the reply BBRV posted in a discussion on amiga.org, another public forum.
I agree that Amiga Inc. needs to be forgotten about ASAP, let them play with their Tao stuff (but without raping the "Amiga" name for it), good luck, but I'm not sure about who'd be the best to take over and won't speculate on that. |
