Our favourite platform has achieved the number 9 spot for the top ten vapourware products of 2002. http://www.wired.com/news/culture/0,1284,57023,00.html for details. From the article:

"9. The new Amiga: Earlier this year, fans of the Amiga were in a tizzy about the prospect of a revival of the comatose platform: Both new machines and a new operating system were promised. Suffice it to say, neither are readily available.

"Some retailers and the Amiga website are taking orders for systems, but 'selling' and 'shipping' are two very different things," wrote reader Russ Van Winkle.

Swift Griggs added: "I've heard promises now for three years. Amiga Inc. has delivered nothing but lies and hot air now for three years, just like everyone who has come before them in the post-Commodore Amigan holocaust."

Actually I think they've missed the boat already. The last estimate I remember reading from Ben Hermans was that OS4 would be released (at least for CS-PPC cards) before the end of 2002.

I was a big Amiga Inc fan. I "donated" my $50. But after all the delays and disappointments Pegasos and MorphOS is looking much more attractive. Although it feels in some way like stabbing an old friend in the back to dump Amiga and go with a competing platform. If Amiga Inc, and companies associated with them, can't deliver, what other choice is there?

I hope Amiga Inc. go bust. And I'd like to see Genesi purchase the trademarks when (if) they do. Their products have a lot more in common with Amiga "spirit" than some pack of pocket games for Windows.

For now I stick with classic Amiga, maybe upgrade it with SharkPPC (assuming Elbox release it, and it runs OS4 as they say it will) and buy myself a nice Pegasos.
