New release of AmigaOne firmware available : Comment 28 of 63 | ANN.lu |
Posted by alan buxey on 10-Mar-2003 17:07 GMT | In reply to Comment 24 (Graham): ..huh?? They arent just doing the BIOS.
the number of people who think that they're working in some serial
method...ie code the BIOS...now code the OS...makes me cringe
with worry about intelligence around here!
The OS is being worked on in parallel. lots of code is being converted from strange (and only just working - sometimes WAY OFF from the documented features)
aseembler into portable and GCC compilable C. porting isnt too long...its
the strange bugs that are uncovered when the new stuff is compiled (anyone
whos used to this stage will know) that takes the most time.
If things had been sorted out sooner (licences etc) then we'd have easily been running OS 4.x for christmas last year. with all the other distractions and problems its incredible that things are still fairly on track and the whole thing is running on an even keel!
