Take a look at the latest review on SWAUG.org.uk. The USB Pen Drive gets the spotlight treatment this time and we see how well it works on the Amiga. Could this technology be the end of floppy disks or even the Iomega Zip 100 ? Find out here: www.swaug.org.uk/pendrive. Watch out for more reviews coming soon from SWAUG.org.uk

SWAUG REVIEW: USB Pen Drive on Amiga : Comment 3 of 7 | ANN.lu |
Posted by Christian Kemp on 01-May-2003 09:58 GMT | In reply to Comment 2 (Ole-Egil): That's what I used to do: lug around a 5-in-1 reader with a 64 or 128 MB Smartmedia, depending on which one I had to spare at the moment. I'm thinking that this is a better solution than a pen drive, because you can use whatever your digital camera (or whatever other mobile device you have) doesn't currently need. On top of being re-useable for other purposes, it also shouldn't cost more than most pen drives retail for.
Nowadays, I just take my JVC laptop... although it weighs more (still, less than 1kg), at least I can run whatever application and store whatever data I want, without having to care about having any of it stored on my work machine, or accessible via my work machine. (We can only access the Internet via Citrix Mainframe, which allows the Citrix administrator to access all my local files and shared drives even if specific file permissions are set.) And once I get home, I just plug the laptop into the hub and can access whatever work I've been doing on it during the day at 100MBit. :) |
